The Catalina Bass Mixer

Written By Joylyn Phoenix and Bethany Weems

D-Ranged and the Detroit Rave Scene present the Catalina Bass Mixer: a bass loving frenzy complete with massive sound by Source Audio kicking a combined 150,000 watts of extreme bass across three raging stages at Club Fantasy. SKiSM, Liquid Stranger and J.Rabbit are pushing the sonic boundaries to bring you heavy bass, psychedelic trips, blasting shades of darkness, and explosions of cutting edge drum n bass.

Living up to their reputation Detroit Rave Scene and D-Ranged productions pull no punches and bring the world renowned DJ SKiSM, a.k.a. Tommy Dash, to blow our minds. SKiSM is a UK based DJ, producer and dubstep powerhouse who is known for his mastery of mixing with 4 decks and insane sounds. The past couple of years have seen SKiSM collaborate with, and remix some of the biggest names in the business such as Flux Pavilion, Excision, Foreign Beggars, Zomboy, Porter Robinson & Hadouken!. His productions have racked up over 13 million views on YouTube.

SKiSM is the co-owner of Never Say Die Records who is celebrating their 4th anniversary as a dominating bass music label.  They just released their 50th album, Never Say Die Fifty, featuring eight exclusive unreleased retrospective tracks in honor of the significant milestone. Tommy shared his excitement about this event saying, “Every time I’ve played Detroit I’ve had an amazing time and a really responsive crowd. [I] Can’t wait for this one, what a lineup!”

Swedish-born dubstep mastermind Liquid Stranger brings fresh talent to the bass loving fiends of Detroit. Liquid Stranger began his dubstep domination back in 2003 and has since toured the globe as well as produced 4 highly acclaimed chart topping full-length albums. Liquid Stranger’s performance is uniquely designed using his custom built analogue mixer that produces unforgettable, inimitable sounds that you will have to hear to believe.

Also headlining will be J. Rabbit from the Bronx, NY bringing dubstep and DNB with a lot of wobble, sub, rattle and bass! His forte is his ability to retool bass masterpieces with his own style of gutter-funk, sub-bass, rolling hats and synthetics snares. While J.Rabbit is quickly rising to stardom with his masterful remixes of songs by Skrillex, Kill the Noise, and many others, the work that is putting him on the map is his original EP Learning to Time Travel.

The Catalina Bass Mixer promises to be a night to remember with fresh headliners as well as the best of the best in local talent. Cybernetik R3volt, Calico, Jesse James, Kenneth Klas, Gusto, Imonasid, Lingk, Enjoi, Ekem, and many more who will tear up the decks for an audio explosion of epic proportions!
