This past Wednesday, September 18th, The Fillmore Detroit was overtaken by worshipers of the “Fox God”.
Japanese kawaii metal phenoms BABYMETAL brought their Metal Galaxy World Tour through downtown Detroit. Along for the ride were Swedish rockers AVATAR.
With no time to waste, AVATAR launched into their hit single “Hail The Apocalypse” and tore the crowd into a frenzy. With only 8 songs on their set list, fans heard hit after hit including “Bloody Angel”, “Smells Like A Freakshow” and Let It Burn.
BABYMETAL played to a capacity crowd at The Fillmore Detroit, and had everyone worshiping the “Fox God” by the time they were done.
Playing an equal amount of songs off their three albums, including their newest Metal Galaxy, Su-metal and Moametal entertained the crowd throughout their 12-song set. With songs like “Gimme Chocolate”, “Road of Resistance” and “KARATE” it was impressive to see the crowd know the songs word for word even though most more than likely didn’t know what they were singing.
A cross between J-Pop and Heavy Metal genres makes for an interesting show, and they left nothing to the imagination. Heavy theatrics, and a lot of dancing, mixed with extremely heavy riffs from a phenomenal group of musicians made this show something to see.
If you have never seen BABYMETAL live, I recommend you keep an eye out for their next tour!
