Datsik is calling his Ninja Squad to action to experience his Ninja Nation Tour showcasing music from his most recent EP release Down 4 My Ninjas with highlights of groundbreaking Firepower tracks. Before the start of festival season in Europe and summer festy season in the states Datsik will complete his 7th bus tour the Ninja Nation Tour with a heartfelt and dubstepstop in Detroit on Valentines Day at the Royal Oak Music Theatre.

The cherry on top is his one of a kind, state of the art Vortex. This is the third and most elaborate iteration of the Vortex. The Vortex 3.0 is an evolving, groundbreaking DJ booth with a vortex lumen, which is a real time 3-D mapping visual screen designed to push the limits of mind-altering visuals. The Vortex 3.0, created by V-Squared Labs, is the third issue of his psychedelic stage, which has been specially upgraded to fit the ninja theme.

26-year old Troy Beetles, better known by his stage and Xbox Live username, Datsik, is a Canadian music producer and DJ. Since his first release in 2009 he has played at venues all over the world, including festivals such as Coachella, Ultra, EDC, Electric Zoo and coming this year Electric Forest.

In August of 2008, Datsik, attended the Shambhala Music Festival in Nelson, BC Canada. Shambhala is Canada’s largest electronic music festival and has been held annually since 1998 in the Kootenay Mountains of BC. It was at this festival that Troy discovered another Kelowna native and developed a profound love of dubstep through Jeff Abel aka Excision. Datsik immediately emerged in the scene and began working with Excision and 12th planet, among others.

From then on Datsik has been working on creating distinct, hip-hop combined with his hardcore dubstyle. He has remixed and collaborated with artists including The Crystal Method, Flux Pavillion, Wu-Tang Clan, Infected Mushroom, and Diplo, and has performed with Steve Aoki, Bassnectar, and Benny Benassi, among others. With five years deep in the business Datsik can boast of putting out at least seven number one tracks on Beatport and holding 5 of the top 10 downloaded tracks at one time.

I recently had a chance to catch up with Datsik about his tour, festivals, Firepower Records and his future. The last time I had talked with Datsik was at the Red Bull launch party in Miami in 2013 after the first day of Ultra. That was the same night Skrillex showed up for a bit and when the club closed the back door opened onto the beach and a killier South Beach sunrise. Check out the interview below for Datsik’s perspective on life, Burning Man, and skull crushing dubstep.

Datsik’s record label Firepower has been shaping the progression of dubstep since its inception in 2012 while Troy’s personal style is evolving into future hip hop. Troy enjoys finding new music and does so through his label, Firepower, which is about to release its’ 100th track.

With dub steps heaviest hitter and a one of a kind Vortex 3.0 this is not a tour to miss. Datsiks Ninja Nation Tour will stop at Royal Oak Music Theatre on Valentines Day February 14. For more information and tickets for DATSIK:
