Freaky With Big G

Big Gigantic @ Freaky Deaky

Written By: Kayla Bultema

The biggest of Gs are about to get freaky with Michiganders for the second time in one month! Big Gigantic will be at the Detroit Masonic Temple on October 25th for their “big blow-out Halloween party” – Freaky Deaky. Paper Diamond, Manic Focus, AND Muzzy will also be tearin’ up the decks for an even more entertaining night!

Big Gigantic is made up of Jeremy Salken, the drumist, and Dominic Lalli, the saxophonist. The Colorado based-duo has been slammin’ out shows since 2008. From Day 1, Big G has stood out from other DJs with their sick combination of electronic infused with live saxophone and drum.

Their latest album The Night Is Young, consisting of 8 heart-racing/adrenaline-thumpin’ tracks, was released earlier this year. Salken’s confident drum work and Lalli’s monumental sax solos proves that Big Gigantic will continue their rein of being one of the most sought after DJs in the industry.

I had the awesome opportunity to interview Dom and when I asked him what he is most excited about playing in Michigan, his response was clearly filled with love for the Mitten – “we came up in MI. It’s our second home. When we did our first bus tour, we sold out our Grand Rapids show and that was a BIG moment for us that we will never forget.”

The Detroit Masonic Temple is the perfect place to host the Halloween bash – it is the country’s largest masonic temple; the 14 story building (plus a secret floor) has over 1,000 rooms, not counting the hidden rooms. The temple is said to be haunted after the owner, George Mason, jumped to his death from the top of the building. Workers claim to still see his ghost roaming the property. Dom told HEAR that they are really excited to play at the Masonic Temple, and that they are going to go ALL OUT for Detroit with extra production and a bigger stage!

Big G ended their October 9th Grand Rapids show with some of their new shit, and might I just say, it was so badass! Dom told HEAR that they plan on releasing their next EP this winter, but will definitely be incorporating it into their Touch The Sky Tour shows.

Big Gigantic wanted HEAR to relay this message to their Michigan family “we love you guys so much and appreciate all your support throughout the years and we wouldn’t be where we are today without ya’ll, so thank you!”
