“…an impeccable sophomore break-out” – Stereogum
“…a richly dramatic, poignant singer-songwriter opus…the album succeeds through its stirring vocals, rich sonic depths and dazzling songwriting…” – UNCUT
“…it’s a rare thing when an artist scores a hat trick like this-a great melody, a genius arrangement and finely crafted lyrics.” – NPR Weekend Edition

A keen observer and a wanderer of the highest regard, Rayland Baxter‘s new record Imaginary Man shows us a wistful portrayal of characters that are searching for ways to redeem themselves.

Recorded in Nashville, the 11-track album was produced by Adam Landry (Deer Tick, Diamond Rugs) and Eric Masse (Andrew Combs, Robert Ellis) and features Bucky Baxter (Bob Dylan, Ryan Adams) on pedal steel as well as Jessie Baylin, Isaaca Byrd (MYZICA), Mikky Ekko, Jordan Lehning (Caitlin Rose, Steelism) and Matt Vazquez (Delta Sprit) on background vocals.

“To me, Imaginary Man is an audible record of my journey down the bright blue river of imagination,” Baxter explains. “It is a multicolored dream of song, a sonic birdbath if you may. The sounds and songs are as visual as they are tactile and it shows a bit more of who I have become as an artist, as continual and never ending as that process is.”

Imaginary Man follows Baxter’s highly praised debut feathers & fishHooks, which was released in 2012. Since then, Baxter has toured alongside Grace Potter, Kacey Musgraves, The Head and the Heart, Shakey Graves, Lauryn Hill and Tedeschi Trucks Band, among many others.

In December Rayland will be opening for Jason Isbell at Denver’s Ogden Theatre, Omaha’s Sokol Auditorium and Kansas City’s Uptown Theatre Kansas City and will then perform two nights in Anchorage, Alaska at Taproot, among others.

Heading into 2016, Rayland has an extensive tour planned throughout the US including dates in Birmingham, New York, Boston, Minneapolis and more. All upcoming dates are listed below.
