Where does musical inspiration come from? Remembering where you started while simultaneously keeping in mind where you are going – which for Mexico’s Rodrigo y Gabriela is back on the road this June, performing in large theaters and festivals across the United States.

Rodrigo y Gabriela’s latest album 9 Dead Alive is an intimate one, recorded as if the band were playing a live gig in your living room. The closest in playing to their breakout 2006 self-titled album, it is also the band’s highest Billboard career debut to date, at #22 on the charts. Recorded at their Pacific Coast hideaway in late summer, the album captures the warmth and spontaneity of two great musicians riffing and jamming together; perfectly distilled into nine new songs teeming with desire, elegance and gusto.

But just because Rodrigo y Gabriela know how to properly rock out in a living room doesn’t mean they haven’t also have played for presidents, toured the world many times over, written soundtracks for Hollywood block-busters, and sold over 1.5 million albums. This success and confidence will certainly come across at their upcoming June shows with opener Madisen Ward and the Mama Bear, a mother-and-son duo whose musical expertise also lies in virtuoso acoustic guitar playing. Also including a stop at Montreal’s International Jazz Festival, the full list of upcoming dates is below.
