Coverage by Stephanie Hudson – HEAR X Nashville

Space Capone packed the house at East Nashville’s newest venue, The Basement East aka “The Beast” on Saturday May 30th. You can always count on a high energy, tightly packed crowd to feed off of the feel-good funky vibes radiating from the stage.

Whether you like to dance or not, you’ll find it hard to resist at a Space Capone show. With suggestive lyrics is delivered in an upbeat falsetto “She’s got me feeling how I look, which is very, very sexy, ” you’ll likely find yourself lost in their R&B/Funk, 70’s era sound.

Formed in 2008, the Nashville based group consists of vocalist Aaron Winters aka “Space”, bassist Drew Wilson, guitarist Sam Farkas, keyboardist Neal Dahlgren, Sax player Joe D. Douglas, Trumpeter Mikie Martel, background vocalist Kris Koon and drummer Ben Stix.

For their most recent release they collaborated with the likes of Jerry Hey (Quincy Jones, Michael Jackson, Earth, Wind & Fire) and Jay Graydon (Airplay, Steel Dan).  Aaron Winters (professionally known as ‘Space’) co-produced the newest material with Calvin Turner (Marc Broussard, Raphael Saadiq) and is swimming against the current of modern day ‘pop.’

Space Capone has performed at Bonnaroo, ACL, Hangout Fest, Bear Creek, LouFest, Summerfest, CMJ, Rombello, SXSW, and many others. Don’t miss them if they come to your city!
